- What is a synchronous connection? My modem supports it. Do I need a
- special serial port or anything? My understanding is that 8 bits sent
- Yes. Two pins from the v.24 socket unused when using start stop bits
- are clock signals (send & receive). A standard pc serial port doesn't
- support them.
- Or no. If your modem is able of Hayes Autosync. Then you talk a
- special (asynchronous) protocol from pc to modem, which transports
- the bits needed for synchronous operation. (Perhaps RPI does the same)

- is 1 actual byte, since there are no start bits and stop bits, which

- The latest USR manual i saw stated, that they support synchronous
- connections only at 19200 and with that special adapter cards.

- connections with them? Thanks a lot!!
- Synchronous means without protocol. You don't want connections without.
